The Great Freezer Blowout of 2012

|
On Monday I went to get a loaf of bread out of Mom and Dad’s spare freezer in the garage and noticed that it was a little softer than I thought it should be coming straight out of the arctic, but it was bread and I just didn’t think about it too much.

On Wednesday I took a stinky bag of trash out to the big trash can in the garage and Mom and I noticed that the smell was pretty funky.

On Thursday morning Mom went to pull out a pack of hot dogs to thaw for dinner…

and found everything in the freezer completely thawed and leaking everywhere.
The bad news is I had to spend and hour going through packages of meat, discarding the out of dates, wiping down, packing, and transferring the remaining meat to my Mamaw’s spare refrigerator, soaking up the juicy (<–yuck!) water up from the bottom of the freezer (which required moving a pile of stuff just to get the bottom tray out), and wiping down every little cranny to get rid of the deep red stain of berry juice that leaked EVERYWHERE out of a berry cobbler.

The good news is that I get to enjoy the likes of seafood medleys for dinner and breakfasts like this beautiful shrimp and dill harvarti omelet.
