Pictureless
So I have no pictures from the weekend. It’s not that we didn’t do anything.
Friday we ate a bucket of crab legs. South Dakota crab legs :-/ And chit chatted with Husband’s boss and his wife till the Officer’s Club closed (at the late hour of 9:30).
Saturday we did a bunch of nothing until I got in a quick gym sesh, showered, threw together a salad and headed over to a friend’s house to watch what was supposed to be the Triple Crown horse race.
Sunday we made flour-less waffles, went to see Prometheus, and then vegged on the couch watching X Files (read: I slept on the couch trying to fight off a headache while Husband watched X Files).
Needless to say there isn’t much to report. I forget sometimes that I don’t always need to have a bajillion pictures to show you guys in order to fill you in on our weekend or daily happenings.
In other news, Husband has been EXTREMELY helpful around the house lately, and seeing as posting it here is the closest thing I have to shouting it from a mountain top, thank you love of my life! I don’t know what I would do without you, and your help means the world to me 🙂
Recently I have tried this, this, and this recipe from my Pinterest board. Out of the three the quinoa dish from Daily Garnish (<–you can never go wrong with her recipes) is my favorite, although we had ours sans peas because the grocery store was fresh out of peas of any kind. The stuffed sweet potatoes were definitely a hit, although a half of a potato was more than enough to fill each of us up. And lastly, the butternut squash was mostly a flop. Not sure if it was the fact that I subbed sage for the chives, and we are a bit sensitive to the taste of sage after a pumpkin sage pasta disaster last winter, or the fact that the cheese I added tasted a bit off, but we didn’t like it.
And for you fashionistas on a budget, I recently discovered these blogs.
I have been craving a shopping spree lately, but a) we are on a budget after stocking up on new camping and beer brewing gear, and b) although I’ve been pleasantly surprised by some of the fashion risk-takers here, what I would consider to be my normal day-to-day style is a far cry from South Dakota normal…and thus there isn’t much reason to warrant spending the money on things I really don’t need and won’t wear here. So in an attempt to “shop my closet” I have been turning to these blogs, and others, for inspiration, and literally taking a note pad into my closet and pulling together outfits. I’ve laid out a couple of week’s worth to get me through work and the weekend without feeling frumpy. I also finally broke down and ordered a few new accessories that I decided it was time to buy after crushing on them for over a year. It never ceases to amaze me how a new necklace can inspire a slew of outfits, and at a fraction of the cost of a new outfit it’s worth the money (there’s no wonder I have an entire armoire full of my beloved jewels).
And that about wraps it up for my Monday. We have absolutely zilch on our agenda this week besides work, the gym (I”m planning to fill you in on my workout schedule later), and a mid-week date night on Wednesday. Cheers to a great week!
