Our House In the Middle of Our Street
Still following along?
When we checked into the temporary lodging hotel we were given a card, a lovely little surprise from Husband’s boss’ wives letting us know they would be bringing us dinner the first two nights we were there. I tell you, these dinners couldn’t have come at a better time. Husband and I cook and eat at home 95% of the time, and after literal weeks on the road and countless meals out there was nothing that sounded better than a home cooked meal.
The first meal, and our last night in the base hotel, we dined on lasagna, salad, toast, and brownies. Complete with a few episodes of Chopped on Food Network (I’m obsessed) and we were finally starting to allow smiles to brighten our faces. The movers were set to come the next morning between 8:30 and 10:00 (to the correct address I might add), and we were meeting with the leasing agent to do the move in inspection at 8:30. Everything was finally coming together.
Except that the next morning the front gate called at 7:56 to let us know the movers had arrived and would be to our unit shortly.
So we frantically called the leasing agent who pulled up moments after we did, the moving truck already parked and open, ready to be unloaded. I really have to thank the movers for being incredibly kind and patient. They allowed us to work through the inspection first.
I took a lot of pictures of the before. There is a Moving House for the Military Spouse Facebook page where pictures can be uploaded for reference when trying to find housing at different bases.
So let’s take a little house tour shall we?

The movers finished unpacking and assembling around 2:00 that afternoon and we worked till dark putting things away. A very welcomed dinner of enchiladas and cake courtesy of Husband’s boss and his wife was consumed along with a few beers, and then we spent the first night in our new home.
