Fall One Room Challenge: The Plan + Mood Board
Surprise! I signed up for the One Room Challenge again! I debated because while I have two rooms in the works right now, I’m semi-started on one, and the other is awaiting a cabinet delivery before I can really start. All that to say, I’m committing to finishing our master bedroom for this ORC challenge!
If you’ve been around my instagram you know I’ve already got a little head start on our bedroom, but there’s still a ways to go!
So let’s start with the mood board and general plan for the room. The current (or rather past now) look had a sort of light, bright, hint of boho feel to it. And looked like this…
It was beautiful, and dreamy in a way, but as my style has evolved to include a lot more vintage pieces and inspiration, eclectic touches, and a little bit of moodiness, this room no longer feels like me.
It’s hard to pinpoint my style exactly, but the closest descriptors are probably “vintage modern” or “modern eclectic.” Basically I love the quality and design of vintage pieces, but updated with cleaner lines, functionality, and sophistication. I also love a hint of that British Colonial island/Bali bungalow vibes. Our master bath achieved this perfectly, so my goal with this bedroom refresh is to coordinate those two. Here’s the master bathroom for reference.
Ok so with all of that in mind I knew I wanted a mix of rich wood tones, vintage furniture styling but with modern feels, and a bit darker look overall. Here’s what I came up with for my mood board.
To Do:
- New Rug
- DIY Upholstered Bench
- DIY Nightstands – Refinish thrifted nightstands
- DIY or Refinished Bed
- Art
- New Sconces
- Millwork behind bed
- Wood plank on tray ceiling
- Dresser Refinish
- Rework Thrifted Mirror
Some of these things have already happened, but I haven’t posted all of them yet so you will see those updates in the coming weeks.
