Dinner At Ristorante L’Abside Amalfi & The Biggest Lemons I’ve Ever Seen

| |
When we last left off, we were exploring downtown Amalfi in search of the perfect dinner spot.

Along the way we met quite a few nice characters.

And discovered lemons the size of our heads.

Literally.

Took a break by the sea to dip our toes in the water.

And to enjoy some “fresh” white wine.

I seriously drank more white wine on this trip than I have in the past 10 years! But it was delicious! Also, see those olives in the picture above? They were hands down the best olives I’ve ever had in my life. As in, we also had them along with our drinks at the Santa Rosa a few days before and commented that we had apparently never tasted real olives in our lives because these were entirely different and wholly amazing. Luckily we eventually found them in the supermarket and could snack on them to our hearts delight back at the villa.

Practice round #2 with the hand rolled cigarettes.

It’s hard to tell, but this fountain is actually a sculpture, now almost completely covered with moss and foliage.

And then it was time for dinner.

Once again the requirement was good seafood, and the Ristorante L’Abside Amalfi was supposed to be THE place to get it.

Although we had inquired about reservations earlier in the day and had been told it wasn’t necessary, when we got there we were told we could sit and eat, but only if we could be done by 8:00 so the people with reservations would have a table. We took our chances and parked at a table outside.

I love this picture of Aubrey so much. Her expression absolutely cracks me up, and her hair is hilarious. She looks like the dad from Everybody Loves Raymond. It makes my heart laugh every time I look at it.

As the darkness settled in we started to feel a few raindrops here and there, and the server was kind enough to move us under the canopy.

Aubrey continued to fuel her bread addiction.

And at last, dinner was served. I went with the fish of the day. Don’t worry, post pictures the server took it back and cleaned it of the bones for me.

Missy won best dish of the night though. Her lobster fettucini was to die for.

And then as if on cue, a small band stopped by and treated us to a little show.

Aubrey loved the music.

To end the night on a sweet note, we finished with a caramel panna cotta that tipped our taste buds over the edge. It was creamy, decadent, and rich enough that all of us were perfectly happy with a few bites each.

A cab ride back, up the dreaded stairs again, and we called it a night.

Our little smush had had all the fun she could take.
