Chugging Lemon Water
It’s quite ironic that just last Saturday my mom wanted to put lemon slices in the water urn at my Grandparent’s party for some pretty decoration. I argued that not everyone likes lemon water (including myself) and so we left it alone. Mere days later I was thinking about an article I had read stating that drinking a glass of lemon water first thing in the morning not only helps detox, but also helps balance the acidity you have built up overnight in your body. So I decided to give it a try and start my days with some warm lemon water…and to do some research. Another small step in getting back on track.
What I have found has caused me to jump on the lemon water bandwagon.
Here are some interesting facts I accumulated from across the interwebs 🙂 about the benefits of lemon water.

Helps with Digestion: Said to help with problems such as indigestion, heartburn, bloating, nausea and regular elimination (ifyaknowwhatImean).
Stimulates the Liver: High in potassium lemon helps reduce excess bile in the liver which can lead to headaches, constipation and loss of appetite. Not to mention I’m sure all of our livers could use a little help from time to time thanks to the crap and uh hm…beverages we bombard them with.
A Natural Antibacterial & Detox Agent: Great for skincare, dental care, sore throat, and treating/preventing cold and flu due to its ability to alkalize the body and control unhealthy bacteria. Lemon water basically helps flush the harmful impurities out our bodies to help cleanse our system.
And a small huge laundry list of other benefits:
Reduces Fever
Aids in Weight Loss
Helps Control High Blood Pressure
Helps Decrease Excessive Menstruation
Purifies Blood
Relieves Symptoms of Asthma, Allergies and other Respiratory Problems
Nourishes Brain and Nerves Cells
Helps Dissolve Gallstones, Calcium Deposits, Kidney Stones, and Pancreatic StonesAids in Treating Rheumatism and Arthritis
For the cheap cost of lemons and the small amount of effort and time it takes to drink a glass of lemon water the benefits seem irresistible.
So you’re convinced, but how do you get started?
Most articles I have read say to drink a glass of lemon water first thing in the morning (before breakfast) and some also say an additional evening tottie is not a bad idea either. Simply add lemon juice to taste to warm or cool water and drink away. If you require a touch of sweetness include a drop of honey or stevia for a refreshing and healthy lemonade treat.
