Around The World: Nice Is Nice
Nice was the last leg of our trip, and the perfect place to end on.
The pristine blues and whites contrasted against lush green surroundings, an air of oceanside sophistication, and the promise of more good food and wine than we could imagine made our hearts very happy.
Our Airbnb was set back a few blocks from the Promenade des Anglais, and conveniently located next to a Velo Blue (similar to city bikes in the U.S.) station so we could easily grab some bikes and be in the middle of the action in minutes.
We had 5 days, and we spent them testing copious amounts of rose trying to find our favorite…
taking bus and train rides to the nearby villages of Villefranche Sur Mer, Cap Ferat, and Eze Village…
touring and discovering a newfound love for art at the Matisse and Chagall museums…
daydreaming about our dream yachts…
eating fresh seafood, gelato, and all the delicacies of Nice…
following Rick Steve’s walking tours…
enjoying a few al fresco lunches “a la Nice” on our apartment terrace…
looking for properties to buy to retire to…
catching up on so much lost time together…
taking a few hikes, including one from Eze Village to Eze Sur Mer…
and spending each evening with a bottle of wine and each other on the beach before dinner, reflecting on our day, breathing, relaxing, and on one of the final nights, celebrating the news that baby #2 would be joining us come January.
It was such a wonderful trip, and just what we needed to fuel up on time together before enduring the last few months apart before Will finally returned home for good.
For curious minds, early May was a great time to visit Nice. Most days were very warm and perfect for laying on the beach or walking around the city. Just be aware you may encounter a few cooler days here and there.
